I ended up uninstalling all Adobe products from my computer and using the CS6 disk to reinstall the programs. This is really starting to turn into a nightmare. I do appreciate your help and suggestions but. Perhaps you installed an update that was OK for Photoshop but too new for Bridge?!? According to Adobe, CS6 can use any version of ACR up to 9.11, while Bridge is restricted to versions up to 8.7.1.
CS6 comes with 7.0, which does not support the Sony A57. Your reference to downloading an update that fixed the Photoshop problem suggests that you have Adobe Camera RAW 7.1 or newer. Thus it is possible for a camera to be supported in one place, but not the other, Preview runs off the Mac OS X RAW support library, while the Adobe applications run off the Adobe one.
"Blurry images" suggests that you are seeing low-resolution JPG files that your camera embedded in its RAW files, perhaps because your application (Bridge) is having trouble figuring out how to interpret the Sony A57 RAW files. I was wondering if anyone else has ever experienced this problem or knows what I could do to fix it? While CS6 isn’t the latest/newest software out there it works great usually for my purposes, and I’m not really interested in getting stuck with a monthly fee for CC. I can open and edit a picture in ACR and save as a jpg, which opens up as expected in Preview, but it’s very frustrating editing a blurry picture. I had this same problem with Photoshop but was able to download an update that for now at least seems to have resolved that problem.
I can open the exact same RAW file in Apple’s Preview program and it is significantly clearer/sharper. However, now when I open them they are visibly blurry. The previews in Bridge have always been somewhat blurry, but I didn’t really care since once opened in ACR they were sharp. I have had no problems until about 1-2 weeks ago. I have a 1 year old 27 inch iMac and use ACR and Photoshop (version CS6) to edit my RAW files from a Sony a57.
